AI daily planner apps for iPhone: which ones actually make a schedule for you?

· 8 min read

Many apps sold as "AI planners" turn what you type or say into tasks and then place those tasks on a calendar. Fewer start from your life (sleep, fixed hours, a goal) and build the day around it. Of the seven apps below, Plan7, Lifestack, Tiimo and Day Flow generate a plan; Motion, Structured and Todoist mainly organize or schedule tasks you give them. Only Plan7 blocks apps.

What counts as "making a schedule for me"

Search for "app that makes a schedule for me" and you'll find three different things sold under the same AI label:

  1. Text or voice to tasks. You talk, the app creates tasks with dates. Useful, but you still decide when everything happens.
  2. Task auto-scheduling. You enter tasks with durations and deadlines; the app finds open calendar slots. It assumes you already know what your week should hold.
  3. Routine generation. You describe your life (sleep, work hours, what you can't drop, a goal) and the app proposes the whole day or week, including the parts that aren't tasks.

If you already have a long task list, type 2 is what you want. If your problem is that you don't know what a realistic day looks like, you need type 3.

1. Plan7: generates a week from your life, iPhone only

Plan7 asks for one goal for the next 30 days, what can't move (work, classes, the commute), what you protect (gym, family) and your sleep. It counts the 168 hours of the week first and tells you if the goal doesn't fit, then builds the week. During focus blocks, fixed commitments and bedtime it pauses the apps you chose through Screen Time, even with Plan7 closed. The current block and its countdown show in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen (iOS 17 or later), and blocks of an hour or more get a 25-minute focus timer. You change a day by typing one message.

  • Limits: iPhone only (iOS 16.4 or later), with no Android, iPad or web version. No free plan: it's a monthly or annual subscription, and the App Store shows the current price. It reads your calendar but never writes to it. It plans routines and isn't a project manager or medical advice.
  • Pick it if you want the whole week built for you and the phone locked during focus time. Full feature list.

2. Tiimo: brain dump to a timed day

Tiimo's AI Co-planner turns "messy list, racing thoughts, half-ideas" into "actionable tasks with timelines", with steps and time estimates; that page says the AI feature is on iOS and web only. The App Store listing describes a countdown focus timer, and Tiimo's homepage lists widgets and Live Activities, with apps for iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, Android and web. The pricing page offers a free version on iOS and Android. We found no mention of app blocking.

Pick it if you think in lists and want a calm visual day built from them on several devices. Plan7 vs Tiimo.

3. Lifestack: a schedule shaped by your health data

Lifestack "reads your sleep, recovery, and focus, then drafts a schedule that puts the right work at the right time", and its App Store listing says you can ask the AI for anything "from building a full day plan to creating routines". It runs on iPhone, Mac, Android and Chrome. The pricing page has no free plan. We found no mention of app blocking or a focus timer.

Pick it if you wear a tracker and want the plan to follow your energy. Plan7 vs Lifestack.

4. Day Flow: say your plans, get a day

Day Flow: AI Daily Planner says it turns spoken plans into "a smart daily schedule" for the day or week, and imports Apple and Google calendars. It runs on iPhone, Mac with Apple silicon and Vision Pro. The listing shows in-app purchases; we couldn't verify whether a usable free tier exists. No app blocking or focus timer is mentioned.

Pick it if you want a quick schedule from a voice note and don't need blocking.

5. Structured: a visual timeline with an AI assistant

Structured AI creates or edits tasks for you from typed text, voice, a scan of a paper planner or a photo. It needs Structured Pro and isn't on the web version yet. The App Store listing lists a Pomodoro focus timer, Live Activities and widgets as free features. Calendar events can be imported but not written back. Most features are free, and apps exist for Apple devices, Android and the web. We found no mention of app blocking.

Pick it if you already know your tasks and want a clean timeline with a free plan. Plan7 vs Structured.

6. Motion: auto-schedules work tasks

Motion prioritizes your tasks and timeblocks them on your calendar, joining Google, Outlook and iCloud calendars into one view. Its iPhone app says it "is a companion to our web/desktop app and is not a standalone app" and needs a Motion subscription. There's no free plan on the pricing page. We found no app blocking or focus timer.

Pick it if your problem is a big, shifting work task list with deadlines. Plan7 vs Motion, or our Motion and Sunsama alternatives guide.

7. Todoist: tasks from your voice

Todoist's Ramble turns speech into tasks with dates, deadlines and priorities, and Todoist Assist can split a big task into smaller steps. Neither builds a time-blocked day. The free plan includes 10 Ramble sessions a month. Apps exist for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, Linux, Android and the web.

Pick it if you want the best task list and will plan the day yourself. Plan7 vs Todoist.
